Georgia falls to Vanderbilt on the road 77-66
Vanderbilt used a balanced inside and outside game to hold off Georgia 77-66 at Memorial Gym in Nashville. Georgia has now lost three straight games and falls to 9-8 overall and 0-3 in the SEC.
The Bulldogs trailed by only two points with 4:45 remaining in the game. But several scoring opportunities slipped away and Vanderbilt finished the game primarily at the free-throw line.
Speaking of the free-throw line, there was a huge disparity in that score line. Vanderbilt was 30 of 44 at the line while Georgia shot 24 less and finished 16 of 20.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 5 rebounds. He shot 6-of-14 from the field and 4-of-10 from three-point range.
Gerald Robinson scored 15 points for Georgia while Donte Williams added 12 in the losing effort. Nemanja Djurisic had a forgettable game for Georgia, scoring a mere 3 points in 22 minutes of play.
UGA finished the game shooting 38.9% (21-54) and 29.6% (8-27) from three-point range.
Georgia’s next game is Wednesday at home against the Tennessee Volunteers (8-9, 1-2 SEC). The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 8:00 p.m. ET.
