Hoop Dawgs beat Winthrop 92-86 in Overtime
Gerald Robinson scored 22 points to lead the Georgia Bulldogs over the Winthrop Eagles 92-86 on Tuesday night at Stegeman Coliseum.
Dustin Ware, who didn’t start, scored 20 points in 28 minutes of play. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (18) and Nemanja Djurisic (17) also scored in double-figures for the Bulldogs.
Georgia was without forward Marcus Thornton, who underwent surgery earlier today after injuring his knee Friday night against Furman. The absence of Thornton hurt the Bulldogs on the boards, although Georgia managed to outrebound Winthrop 35-33.
The Bulldogs (8-5, 0-0 SEC) finished the game shooting 54.4% (31-57) and 38.1% (8-21) from three-point range.
Georgia’s next game is Friday against Delaware State in Athens. The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be not be televised.
