Georgia avoided what could have been another disastrous ending in this series. The Dawgs allowed a Gator touchdown on a fourth-and-19, a 99-yard kickoff return for a TD, missed two field goals and tossed one interception.
Even with all those mistakes, Georgia used their balanced offense and strong defense to thwart Florida. The defense, led by Jarvis Jones with four sacks, held Florida to 245 yards passing and -19 yards rushing.
Aaron Murray completed 15 of 34 passes for 169 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. His two TD’s were to Tavarres King and Michael Bennett.
Isaiah Crowell led the Dawgs on the ground with 18 carries for 81 yards. Richard Samuel also had a great game with 58 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown.
Georgia finished the game with 354 yards to Florida’s 226. The Dawgs have now won six straight games while Florida has lost four in a row.
The win keeps Georgia in a tie for the lead in the SEC East with South Carolina. But since the Gamecocks beat the Bulldogs head-to-head, Georgia needs to win out and South Carolina needs to lose one conference game.
Next up for Georgia is a visit from the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday, November 5. The game will be televised by CSS at 12;30 p.m. ET.
