The Georgia Bulldogs have published their 2012 football schedule in their 2011 Football Media Guide. UGA will open the season at home on September 1 against Buffalo.
Georgia will travel to face South Carolina the second week of the season (Sept. 8). The Gamecocks have been the first SEC opponent on the schedule since 1998. More often than not, the game is played the second week of the season.
After a home game against Florida Atlantic on September 15, the Bulldogs host Vanderbilt (Sept. 22) and Tennessee (Sept. 29). This is a departure from the normal scheduling format as the Dawgs usually face Tennessee first followed by Vandy. Also, these two games have started the first or second week of October since 1996.
The Dawgs then hit the road for two straight weeks, at Alabama on October 6 and at Kentucky on October 13. The Crimson Tide rotate back onto the schedule for the first time since 2007-08.
For the second straight season, Georgia will have an off week prior to their game against the Florida Gators in Jacksonville. Florida is 15-4 against the Dawgs after an off week, while Georgia is 3-3 when they are off. Both teams are off before the 2011 Cocktail Party, which is a first in the series.
Georgia then returns home to host Ole Miss on Nov. 3. The Rebels will then rotate off of the schedule until probably 2016.
The final 2012 road game for UGA is Nov. 10 at Auburn. The Dawgs close out the regular season with consecutive home games against Georgia Southern (Nov. 17) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 24).
Update (12/01/2011): Due to the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M to the SEC, Georgia’s 2012 football schedule will change. Therefore, all SEC games have been removed from the schedule and are now listed as TBA.

Well alright then now.
pretty easy. no hard out of conferences. 14-0
keep dreaming
big departure from Evans when he was AD. I enjoyed our competitive home and aways with solid teams from big conferences. Arizona St, Colorado, Oklahoma St., Boise St, etc...
This schedule is incredibly boring...could care less about seeing Buffalo, Ga Southern, or Florida Atlantic. Disappointed in new AD for this weak sauce. We should have honored the Oregon contract...even if that meant sacrificing Boise St.
Oregon was still a few years away. We sacrificed Louisville to play Boise State.
We play in the HARDEST conference in the country! We have nothing to prove or gain by playing a tough non-conference schedule, but everything to lose. Enjoy the Saturday in Athens, and forget about the opponent. It is also a week to heal injured players and develop young talent!! The bowl season is when we should play the other conferences. I think this scheduling is correct, leave the cross country travel to the Evans Era!
No hard games outa conference??? You must not have been watching the same Ga-GT games I have the last few yrs.
Kinda looks like a gator style schedule. Seems to have worked out well for them in the past. Of course, the media in the ATL will kill us for it.
The Atlanta media kills UGA for anything and everything.
A very favorable schedule toughest games should be Bama and Florida. Tennessee and Auburn will be competitive but we can get by them. Like someone said we have nothing to prove by playing out of conference heavyweights, we have plenty of heavyweights within the conference.
True that Kevin. The non-conference is fine considering we have to play Bama, Auburn, USC, and Kentucky on the road. Tennessee has been recruiting well, and Derek Dooley will most likely improve with his pedigree. Florida always seems to give us trouble, and GT likes to play their best against us.
Anyone know which game is homecoming?
New Mexico State on 11/7
