Green played in 32 games as a Bulldog and caught 166 passes for 2,619 yards and 23 touchdowns. His numbers were brought down slightly be missing the first four games of the 2010 season after he was declared ineligible for selling his Independence Bowl jersey.
His career is highlighted by several amazing catches, including this one-handed catch at Colorado.
A.J. will likely be a Top 5 pick in April’s draft and could even be selected first by the Carolina Panthers. That would create an ideal situation for Green, who hails from Summerville, SC. Charlotte and Summerville are only about 190 miles apart.
Statement from A.J. Green:
“While it was a difficult decision, it came down to the opportunity of pursuing a dream I’ve had since early childhood,” said Green. “But Georgia is a great place and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to be a Georgia Bulldog. I want to thank the coaches, my teammates and the fans who have supported me and helped me grow not only as a player but as a man.”
Statement from Mark Richt:
“A.J. has made an immeasurable impact on our team over the past three seasons and we wish him nothing but the best,” said UGA head coach Mark Richt. “I’ve enjoyed working with him and getting to know his family and we wish him all the success in professional football. Once a Bulldog always a Bulldog.”
