Rome (6-5, 255) committed to UGA over offers from several schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
Rivals.com and Scout.com both rate Rome as a four-star recruit and the no. 4 tight end in the country.
“I think I’m going to stay in state and go to Georgia,” said Rome. “Georgia’s a great school, has a great football history. People call it Tight End U. Just at the end of the day, it just felt like I wanted to stay home, stay in state and get all the in-state love.”
Rome is the latest Dream Team recruit for the Bulldogs from the state of Georgia. The Dawgs also hope to land a commitment from Rome’s teammate Malcom Mitchell, who will announce his decision this evening.
