The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 64-57 Friday afternoon in Athens. Trey Thompkins led the Hoop Dawgs with 26 points and 7 rebounds.
The win improved Georgia’s overall record to 11-2. UGA has now won eight straight games and finished December undefeated.
Travis Leslie scored 14 points and was the only other Bulldogs besides Thompkins to score in double-figures.
Eastern Kentucky stayed closed to Georgia throughout most of the game and were tied with 7:17 remaining. But Thompkins scored the next six points to give the Bulldogs the lead for good.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a home game and SEC opener against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, January 8, 2011. The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 4:00 p.m. ET.
