Georgia Holds off the UAB Blazers 66-64
The Georgia Bulldogs held off a rally by the UAB Blazers to win 66-64 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens. Junior forward Trey Thompkins led the Dawgs with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
Gerald Robinson, Jr. hit a driving layup with 14 seconds remaining in the game to put the Dawgs up by three. After a UAB miss, Robinson was fouled and he hit both free throws to put Georgia up by five. A last-second three-pointer by the Blazers closed the final margin to two.
Georgia led by as many as 16 points in the first half and by 11 points at halftime. Robinson, Jr. finished with 13 points and 5 assists while Jeremy Price added 14 points.
UAB came into the game 6-1 with a win over Arkansas 70-65 in Little Rock. The Blazers, coached by Mike Davis, have been to the NIT three straight years and could be an NCAA bubble team this season.
The Hoop Dawgs are now 5-2 overall and travel to Atlanta to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
