No. 2 Auburn Beats Georgia 49-31

SicEmDawgs.com

UGAAlthough the subject of potential NCAA violations, Cam Newton played against the Dawgs anyway. Newton accounted for four touchdowns and led Auburn to a 49-31 victory over Georgia.

Georgia led Auburn 21-7 in the second quarter, but allowed the Tigers to tie the game going into halftime. Georgia was set to receive the ball to open the second, but fell victim to an Auburn onside kick. The Tigers would go on to score and never trailed again.

Aaron Murray had an outstanding game for the Dawgs. He completed 15 of 28 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns.

A.J. Green has nine receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Caleb King led the Dawgs with 53 yards rushing and Washaun Ealey added 44.

There was some extra-curricular activity late in the fourth quarter that resulted in the ejection of two Auburn defensive lineman, Michael Goggans and Mike Blanc. This was brought on by the continual dirty lay of Tiger defensive tackle Nick Fairley. We’ll have more on this in a bit.

The loss drops Georgia to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the SEC. Georgia has to beat Georgia Tech in two weeks to become bowl eligible, barring a lack of enough 6-6 teams to fill all of the available bowl slots.
