ESPN To Broadcast 2009 Georgia Bulldogs G-Day Game

According to the official schedule on GeorgiaDogs.com, the 2009 G-Day game will be broadcast by ESPN. The annual Spring football game between the Red and Black will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Sanford Stadium in Athens (1:00 p.m.; tickets are free).

This may not come as a surprise to some as Georgia was reported to be in talks with ESPN last fall. Other than the note on the 2009 schedule, there hasn’t been any official announcement made by the UGA Athletic Association.

Hopefully, the deal to televise the game is true and will be made official. A national broadcast of our Spring game would be a great recruiting tool and some good publicity for Georgia.

Hat tip to “Aces over Kings” on The Dawgvent who discovered the notation on the schedule.

Update (01/23/09 – 11:50 a.m.):

The Athens Banner-Herald has confirmed that ESPN will televise the G-Day game on April 11 (1:00 p.m.).
