Dennis Felton Fired as Head Coach of the Georgia Bulldogs

Dennis Felton has been fired as head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. A news conference has been scheduled at UGA at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the decision. Assistant coach Pete Hermann will take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Felton ends his tenure with an overall record of 84-91. Although he won one SEC Tournament, his teams often played poorly on offense and had a dismal record away from Stegeman Coliseum.

Possible candidates to replace Felton are Anthony Grant (Virginia Commonwealth), Brad Stephens (Butler) and Jeff Capel (Oklahoma). Other candidates mentioned by hopeful Bulldog fans include Tubby Smith (Minnesota), Scott Drew (Baylor), Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Sean Miller (Xavier), Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh) and Bobby Knight (currently retired).

  • I wish Felton the best of luck. Hopefully we get a good coach off of your list. I'm thinking we end up with Grant.

  • Evans needs to think big here. Shoot for the highest we can get and see what happens. He has plenty of time to quietly gauge interest from potential hires.

  • i hope he does a good job somewhere else but as bad as UGA basketball has been especially this year there was really no other choice

  • I was wanting this to happen 2 years ago. If Damon didn't fire him after that last performance, I don't know what would have done it.

  • Anthony Grant would be a great hire. He's young, smart and has a proven track record. Plus, he looks to be a fantastic recruiter. We need him!
