Knowshon Moreno for Heisman

Georgia Bulldogs

Coming in to the 2008 season, there was talk that UGA tailback Knowshon Moreno was a possible Heisman Trophy contender. After his leap over Central Michigan defender Vince Agnew, Moreno thrust himself further into the spotlight and improved his chances. This page has been created to highlight Moreno’s accomplishments and track his progress throughout the season.

Knowshon Moreno, who wears number 24, is from Belford, New Jersey and played high school football at Middletown South. There he rushed for 6,268 yards, which is 2nd all-time in the State of New Jersey. As a senior, he rushed for 1,808 yards on 185 carries and scored 43 touchdowns. Coming out of high school, Moreno was a PrepStar 200, Rivals100 (#73), Rivals.com #10 running back, Scout.com #9 running back in the nation and an EA Sports All-American.

Moreno was signed by Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs in February of 2006. He redshirted his first year primarily due to the depth the Bulldogs had at the tailback position. He burst on to the scene in 2007 with his enthusiasm and production on the field.

Listed below are articles and web sites either promoting or referencing Knowshon Moreno and the Heisman Trophy. Also listed are Moreno’s stats. Both of the sections will be updated weekly.
