Bliss Beats Ole Miss In 1st Round Of SEC Tournament
With only seconds left in overtime, Sundiata Gaines inbounded the ball to Corey Butler, who promptly drove the court and dished to……….senior Dave Bliss. That’s right, Dave Bliss. The Rebels did a good job defending Sundiata Gaines, the usual go-to guy for the Dawgs. Left wide open, Bliss banked his shot off the glass with .4 seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs a 97-95 win over the Rebels in the 1st Round of the 2008 SEC Tournament.
Georgia led the Rebels 63-50 with 12 minutes left in regulation. The Rebels then went on an 18-2 run to get back in the game. With only four seconds remaining and the Dawgs up by three, guard Billy Humphrey fouled David Huerta on a 3-point attempt. Huerta made all three, sending the game into overtime.
Then with 5.5 seconds left in overtime and the Dawgs up by three, guard Corey Butler fouled Chris Warren on a 3-point attempt. He made all three shots which tied the game again. Butler redeemed himself on the next play with his pass to Dave Bliss for the win.
The Bulldogs will face the Kentucky Wildcats in the 2nd round on Friday. The scheduled tipoff time is 9:45 p.m.
