Georgia-Western Kentucky Basketball Series Postponed

Stegeman Coliseum

Andy Katz of ESPN.com reports that, due to a scheduling conflict, the Georgia Bulldogs and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have postponed their final contracted game until the 2008-09 season. Georgia reportedly had December 1 and December 5 open this season, but WKU had previous commitments on those dates.

When Dennis Felton left Western Kentucky for Georgia, the Hilltoppers and Bulldogs signed a 4-year home-and-home contract. This was included in Felton’s contract at Georgia, at the behest of Western Kentucky’s Athletic Director.

Under Felton, the Bulldogs are 1-2 against the Hilltoppers. The Dawgs lost at home 71-61 in 2004, won 69-65 at WKU in 2005 and lost at home 70-67 in 2006.

Also today, the South Carolina Gamecocks announced their 2007-08 Basketball Schedule. The Bulldogs will play in Columbia on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 and will host the Gamecocks in Athens on Wednesday, February 13, 2008.
