CB Branden Smith arrested for possession of marijuana

SicEmDawgs.com

Branden SmithUGA cornerback Branden Smith was arrested early this morning by the Henry County, AL Sheriff’s Department and charged with possession of marijuana.

Smith was the passenger in a 2007 Dodge Charger that was pulled over for following too close and no tag light. After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Motzenbecker smelled an odor resembling marijuana coming from the car.

Upon searching the vehicle, the Deputy found a “baseball size package of marijuana” on the back seat. Both Smith and the driver, Danze Woods, were then arrested at 12:06 a.m.

Smith, 23, is the second Bulldog to be arrested this year. Cornerback Sanders Commings was arrested in January and charged with domestic violence/simple battery. Commings was subsequently suspended two games by head coach Mark Richt.

The suspension for Smith will likely be longer than Commings. Smith will probably miss the first three games of the season: vs. Buffalo (09/01), at Missouri (09/08) and vs. Florida Atlantic (09/15).
