The 2008-09 Georgia Bulldogs Basketball Schedule has been released by the UGA Athletic Association. Featured non-conference games include Missouri and Virginia Tech at home, Illinois in Chicago (neutral site) and games at Western Kentucky and Georgia Tech. University of Georgia (17-17) seniors Sundiata Gaines and Dave Bliss watched as their once 11-point lead slowly slipped away to the #3 seeded Xavier Musketeers (28-6) in the first round of the NCAA national tournament. The Bulldogs fell 73-61 but the score was not indicative of just how well UGA played throughout the game. They led by 7 with less than 10 minutes remaining and trailed by only 3 with just over a minute remaining before Xavier ended the game on a 9-0 free throw run. Full Story...

The Georgia Bulldogs completed an improbable run of four games in three days to win the 2008 SEC Tournament Championship. The Dawgs defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 66-57 on Sunday. A tornado and other severe weather damaged the Georgia Dome on Friday night forcing the postponement of the 2nd Round Georgia-Kentucky game. The remainder of the tournament was then relocated to nearby Alexander Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats 60-56 in overtime, and then approximately six hours later on Saturday night, defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 64-60 to advance to the Championship game. With only seconds left in overtime, Sundiata Gaines inbounded the ball to Corey Butler, who promptly drove the court and dished to..........senior Dave Bliss. That's right, Dave Bliss. The Rebels did a good job defending Sundiata Gaines, the usual go-to guy for the Dawgs. The Georgia Bulldogs lost 76-62 to the visiting Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday in their 2007-08 season finale. It was the final game at home for Bulldog seniors Sundiata Gaines and Dave Bliss. The Georgia Bulldogs needed a win. After losing 5 straight, coupled with the suspension of Billy Humphrey and Dennis Felton's future at UGA, the Dawgs were at their lowest point all season.
