The Georgia Bulldogs crushed the North Carolina State Wolfpack 17-8 to win the Athens Super Regional 2 games to 1 in the best-of-three series. After losing the first game of the Athens Regional to Lipscomb, the Georgia Bulldogs were faced with an uphill climb to the 2008 Super Regionals. The Diamond Dogs blew an 11-run lead and lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks 14-13, ending their 2007 season. Heading in to the 8th inning, the Gamecocks trailed 13-5 but then scored 9 runs to take the game.
